DEADPOOL PINBALL RULES: GENERAL CONCEPT

SYNOPSIS

Deadpool, Marvel’s anti-hero, takes center stage in this pinball adventure! Amid a flurry of irreverent jokes, the indestructible man must take on a series of villains. Along with breaking jaws, Deadpool travels through time to thwart the mysterious plans of Mr. Sinister.

MXV Skillshot

  • Hold the left flipper button before launching the ball.
  • The ball will travel from the right orbit to the left flipper.
  • Hit the right loop, then follow up with the Katana ramp.
  • This sequence rewards the Ninjapocalypse benefits in addition to the specific MXV Skillshot points.

Super Secret Skillshot

  • Hold the left flipper button before launching the ball.
  • The ball will travel from the right orbit to the left flipper.
  • Aim directly for the Snikt target, earning immediate points and Snikt-related benefits.

BASIC RULES

Deadpool Pinball is a “mission-based” pinball machine. Your goal is to complete objectives to progress through the storyline and ultimately unlock the Wizard Mode. The missions involve battling villains, specifically “breaking their jaws” with Deadpool’s trademark snark.

Main Villains
There are three base-level villains to defeat in order of difficulty (easiest to hardest):

  • Sabretooth
  • Juggernaut
  • Mystique

Secondary Challenges
In parallel, Deadpool must travel through time to defeat:

  • A Tyrannosaurus Rex
  • A Megalodon

These battles represent the first tier of challenges. Additional Mini-Wizard and Wizard Modes will be explained later.

Side Quests
Beyond the main storyline, numerous side quests are available, some of which are essential for achieving high scores.

BATTLES

Battle modes can be started:

  • By shooting the Scoop at the beginning of each ball.
  • After dropping the D-E-A-D targets on the left.

Choose your opponent from the available options (starting choices: Sabretooth, Juggernaut, Mystique).

TEAM-UPS

Before starting a battle, you can recruit X-Men allies to assist you. This is done by hitting a “Team-Up!” shot twice (+1 hit if the ally has already been used in the current game). Each ally offers a unique bonus:

  • Dazzler: Hit the left orbit to recruit her. She increases Deadpool’s health bar, adding extra time to fights.
  • Colossus: Hit the mini-loop under the left ramp. He doubles all points earned during the battle.
  • Wolverine: Hit the spinner in the center. He doubles the damage dealt to enemies.
  • Domino: Hit the right orbit. She increases scores for specific features (targets for Juggernaut, spinner for Mystique, bumpers for Sabretooth).

Pro Tip:

  • Wolverine is the most useful for finishing fights quickly, and his central spinner shot is one of the easiest on the playfield.

LEVEL 1 BATTLES

The battles play out like a fighting game (similar to Street Fighter):

  • Each villain has a health bar.
  • Flashing inserts, including Team-Up shots, correspond to attacks that deal damage.
  • Use the Scoop (within 10 seconds of victory) to finish off a villain and earn a point bonus. If you miss the timer, the battle is still considered complete unless you lose the ball.
  • Progress is saved even if you lose a ball. Don’t tilt, though—this will reset the fight.

Battle-Specific Strategies:

  • Sabretooth:
    • Hit the left/right orbits or the central spinner to deal damage.
    • Orbits send the ball to the pop bumpers, with each hit reducing Sabretooth’s health. Orbits are generally faster than the spinner for defeating him.
  • Juggernaut:
    • Hit any D-E-A-D or P-O-O-L target 4 times to taunt Juggernaut and stop his attacks.
    • This lights all main shots for 20 seconds. Each successful shot deals damage.
    • After 20 seconds, the targets must be hit again.
  • Mystique:
    • Shoot the spinner, followed by both ramps.
    • After completing these, all three main shots will light up.
    • When Mystique transforms into an ally, the Team-Up shot, if available, deals significant damage.

PROGRESSION

Once a villain is defeated, hit the D-E-A-D targets again to unlock the next battle.

The Value of the Final Shot

When the villain’s health bar reaches zero, you must shoot the Scoop within the allotted time to earn a bonus. The bonus value depends on the amount of health Deadpool has remaining and how quickly you perform the Final Shot.

Sauron Multiball

After defeating (with or without a Final Shot) Juggernaut, Mystique, and Sabretooth, the battle against the pterodactyl Sauron becomes available. Shoot the Scoop to start a 3-ball Multiball.

During this mode:

  • Shoot the right ramp twice and the left ramp twice. Each successful shot awards a Jackpot.
  • Once complete, aim for the mini-loop (U-Turn loop) to score Super Jackpots.

Regardless of your performance during this phase, losing the penultimate ball advances you to the next stage of the storyline.

Level 2 Battles

After completing the Sauron mission, you’ll face the three villains again, but this time they are aided by Sauron.

What changes:

  • The initial shots are the same as in the first battles.
  • Afterward, the shots alternate with those targeting Sauron, requiring you to aim at both ramps.

While not necessarily harder than the original fights, these battles are more dynamic and varied.

Clone Multiball

Once you’ve defeated all three villains and their ally Sauron, a shot to the Scoop initiates a battle against Mr. Sinister’s clones.

Key shots:

  • Hit the light blue inserts (the two ramps and either orbit) to progress.

Quests

These are high-caliber battles where you travel through time to extract DNA from two massive prehistoric creatures.

How to trigger quests:

  • Make the ball travel the right-to-left loop (once for the first quest, twice for the second).
  • Shoot the orange inserts to progress.

Each successful shot earns you a stamp on Deadpool’s food truck loyalty card, rewarding him with chimichangas (his favorite burrito-like dish).

Once you’ve collected three chimichangas, the quests become available at the Scoop.

The T-Rex Quest

The mighty T-Rex, featured prominently on the Limited Edition cabinet, alternates between two types of shots during this quest:

  • Green Inserts:
    • Begin by aiming for one of the green-lit inserts (most shots on the playfield qualify).
    • After a successful shot, the drop targets beneath the Lil’ Deadpool figurine lower, revealing a hidden target.
  • Lil’ Deadpool Target:
    • Aim for the hidden target under Lil’ Deadpool to launch a bomb straight into the T-Rex’s jaws.

Scoring Strategy

  • You can increase the point value of the bombs by successfully hitting multiple green inserts before targeting Lil’ Deadpool.
  • However, be aware that the collected points gradually decrease over time if you delay shooting the hidden target.

Risk vs Reward:

  • Secure your points quickly by launching bombs immediately, or take the risk of building a higher score by chaining green shots before targeting Lil’ Deadpool.

Finishing the Quest

After successfully launching five bombs, aim for the Scoop to complete the fight and collect the precious T-Rex tooth, which contains its DNA.

The Megalodon Quest

Arguably the most challenging battle outside of the Wizard Mode! The massive prehistoric shark circles around you, and its movement is represented by a flashing red insert among blue inserts.

How It Works

  • Tracking the Megalodon:
    • The red insert represents the shark’s current position.
    • Every 5 seconds, the red insert moves to the next blue insert in a predictable pattern, alternating from left to right and back right to left.
  • Landing Hits:
    • Aim for the red insert to attack the Megalodon.
    • Successfully hit the red insert five times to weaken it.
  • Finishing the Quest:
    • Once you’ve landed five hits, shoot the Scoop to finish the battle.
    • Completing the quest rewards you with the Megalodon’s tooth, which contains its DNA.

Pro Tip:

Keep track of the shark’s predictable movement to anticipate the red insert’s position. Precision and timing are key to successfully hitting it before it moves!

The Megakrakolodonus Rex

If you’ve defeated the three villains (Juggernaut, Mystique, and Sabretooth) and the two prehistoric creatures (T-Rex and Megalodon), shooting the Scoop triggers a cutscene where Deadpool confronts Mr. Sinister. Thinking he’s mocking the villain, Deadpool tosses the T-Rex, Megalodon, and Sabretooth’s teeth into a sinister machine—big mistake!

This creates the Megakrakolodonus Rex, a monstrous hybrid of a Kraken and the two prehistoric beasts.

How to Fight the Megakrakolodonus Rex

  • Shoot the blue inserts scattered across the playfield.
  • Once enough blue shots are made, the Lil’ Deadpool target becomes accessible for 10 seconds.
  • Aim for the Lil’ Deadpool target repeatedly during this window.
  • You’ll need 15 hits on the Lil’ Deadpool target to defeat the creature.

Optional Finish: Shooting the Scoop after reducing its health to zero is optional but adds flair to the finale.

The Final Battle: Wizard Mode (This time, it’s personal!)

To reach the ultimate battle, you must:

  • Defeat Mystique, Juggernaut, and Sabretooth twice.
  • Complete the T-Rex and Megalodon quests.
  • Activate the Mechsuit Multiball (see below).

The Fight Against Mr. Sinister:

  • First Phase (Recruiting Allies):
    • This timed phase gives you 45 seconds to hit the four shots corresponding to the X-Men allies (Dazzler, Colossus, Wolverine, and Domino).
    • Each successful shot recruits an ally and reduces Mr. Sinister’s health bar by half.
  • Second Phase (Multiball):
    • A 3-ball Multiball begins with a long ball save timer.
    • You have 70 seconds to hit as many blue inserts as possible.
    • Shots to the Lil’ Deadpool target are worth double points during this phase.
    • Reduce Mr. Sinister’s health bar to zero, then finish him off with a Scoop shot, delivering a final kick to the face.
  • Completion:
    • After the battle, the playfield powers down, flippers deactivate, and the ball drains.
    • The game awards you your ball back, allowing you to restart the journey while keeping your score intact.

End of Ball Bonuses

Deadpool’s bonus system is simpler than in many modern machines. It is based on three collectible items:

  • Ninja Stars:
    • Earned by hitting blue-purple inserts when no battles are active.
    • These inserts appear after activating the bumpers or during the Ninjapocalypse mode.
  • Weapons:
    • Collect weapons by hitting inserts with katanas on white backgrounds.
    • Cash them in by shooting the Scoop to unlock animations based on the number of collected weapons.
  • Chimichangas:
    • Collected during quests (see above).

Bonus Calculation:

  • Each item is multiplied by a set number to calculate the bonus.
  • Activate bonus multipliers by lighting the four lanes above the bumpers. Completing them adds an additional multiplier.

Important Notes:

  • Items accumulate across the game, but the bonus multiplier resets with each ball.

Weapon Benefits

  • Extra Ball:
    • Collect a set number of weapons to light the Extra Ball at the Scoop.
    • Typically, 15–25 weapons are required, adjustable in the game’s settings.
  • Mechsuit Multiball:
    • Collect 45 weapons to activate this mode.
    • Deadpool dons an exosuit and battles villains with at least 4 balls in play.
    • Aim for red inserts to collect Jackpots. After every 5 Jackpots, shoot the Scoop for a Super Jackpot.
    • The mode can be triggered again at 150, 250, 350 weapons, etc.
  • Playfield Multiplier:
    • Every 100 weapons collected activates a permanent playfield multiplier (up to 5x), doubling all points except bonuses.

Ninja Star Benefits

  • Ninja Multiball:
    • Lock 3 balls in the Katana ramp to start this Multiball.
    • Hit blue inserts, which disappear after successful shots. Each insert grants a Ninja Star.
    • Return to the Katana ramp to restart the sequence.
    • Jackpot values depend on the number of Ninja Stars collected.
  • Extra Ball:
    • Earned by collecting 50 Ninja Stars, though this is rare.

Pro Tip:
The Ninja Multiball can overlap with battles or quests, making it an excellent tool to defeat villains, the T-Rex, or the Megalodon more efficiently.

Lil’ Deadpool Missions

The Lil’ Deadpool figurine offers three missions, triggered by dropping the targets beneath it and repeatedly hitting the fixed target behind them:

  • Lil’ Deadpool Multiball:
    • A second ball is launched while the first remains trapped behind the targets.
    • Hit the Lil’ Deadpool target five times, then aim for red inserts.
    • Once a ball is freed, spin the central spinner to reset the sequence with increased scoring.
  • Lil’ Deadpool Frenzy:
    • A 60-second mode where hitting targets earns points with each strike.
  • Lil’ Deadpool Bounce:
    • A red insert moves among the 11 drop targets.
    • Hitting the target earns points; after 3 hits, aim for the Lil’ Deadpool target to collect a bonus equal to the previous hits and a playfield multiplier for the rest of the ball.

Pro Tip:
Lil’ Deadpool Multiball can overlap with battles or missions for additional scoring opportunities.aines missions. Utilisez-le pour vaincre les vilains, le T-Rex ou le Megalodon plus facilement.

Disco Missions

To activate the Disco Missions, you need to spin the left spinner multiple times. There are two possible missions:

  • Disco Loops(available only on Premium and Limited Edition models):
    • A fun mode with a disco ball and music!
    • The objective is to spin the left spinner by traveling through the orbit (right-to-left or left-to-right).
    • Shots through the central spinner do not count.
  • Disco Multiball:
    • Aim for the lit inserts on the playfield.
    • Each successful shot can trigger the Super Jackpot round, during which:
      • The left spinner increases the Super Jackpot value.
      • The left ramp collects the Super Jackpot.

BOOM Button

To light the B.O.O.M letters, hit the inlanes leading to the flippers or the outlanes where the ball drains.

  • Once B.O.O.M is completed, you earn a bomb, which is activated with the lockbar button.
  • Using a bomb instantly completes the highest-value shot on the playfield.
  • If you accumulate four bombs, the lockbar button turns red and executes all shots on the playfield simultaneously when pressed.
    • You can release the button early to save unused bombs.

Tracking Bombs:

  • Your total bombs are shown by small bomb icons on the right side of the LCD screen.

Pro Tip:

Save your bombs for battles to defeat villains faster and earn higher scores.dement, surtout si l’un de vos alliés s’est joint à la partie.

Katanarama Time

Collect three diamonds on each of the two ramps to activate Katanarama Time.

  • This mode starts immediately and lasts 30 seconds.
  • During this time, aim for the ramps or orbits to score points.

Pro Tip:

  • You cannot activate other missions during Katanarama Time. If this prevents you from triggering an important part of the storyline, consider holding the ball on a flipper until the timer runs out.

Colossal Jackpot

  • Shoot the mini-loop under the left ramp twice (then four times, six times, etc.).
  • The Jackpot insert will light up.
  • Every switch on the playfield increases the jackpot value.
  • To collect it, shoot hard enough for the ball to hit the target at the end of the mini-loop.

Berserker Rage

  • Spin the central spinner four times to activate Berserker Rage.
  • During this 45-second mode, aim for either spinner to rack up points, which increase with each spin.
  • This mission is compatible with all other modes.

Snikt!

Arguably the most challenging and satisfying shot, showcasing George Gomez’s brilliant design.

  • Aim for the Katana ramp, but instead of taking the main right trajectory, target the small Snikt! target at the entrance of the central loop.
  • This shot requires near-perfect precision.
  • Landing it grants a temporary playfield multiplier, stackable with permanent or other temporary multipliers if you can chain multiple Snikt shots.

Pro Tip:

  • Want to score big? Combine the Mechsuit Multiball with playfield multipliers from Snikt shots!

Ninjapocalypse

Successfully chain the right orbit followed by the Katana ramp to trigger the Ninjapocalypse animation.

  • This awards 10 Ninja Stars and a significant number of points.

Mystery

When you knock down the D.E.A.D.P.O.O.L targets (all eight), the Mystery insert lights up. Collecting it grants one of the following rewards:

  • Light Ninja Lock: If the Ninja Multiball lock isn’t lit, this lights it.
  • Ghost X Ninjas: Earn 1–10 Ninja Stars.
  • Collect X Weapons: Earn 1–10 weapons.
  • 500K Points: The least exciting reward.
  • Advance Chimichanga Truck: Gain one Chimichanga.
  • Light Extra Ball: Lights the Extra Ball insert.
  • Light Special: Lights the Special insert at the mini-loop, collectable by hitting the target at the end of the loop.
  • Add-a-ball: Adds a ball and temporarily reactivates the ball save.

Pro Tip:

During Multiball, the Mystery reward often grants an add-a-ball. Try to activate it when you’re down to two balls to extend the Multiball session.
